Join in support of the Sydney Cove Rotary club on 21 November 2025 for the much-anticipated Solas Charity Regatta, a spectacular day of yacht racing on the Sydney Harbour. This year’s event promises to be a great day for all, made even better by Boatique Sydney Boat Hire, who generously provided a boat in support. Whether you’re attending to witness the competition or participate in any way, this regatta is a day is one you don’t want to miss.
The boat we have hired will provide a great vantage point for spectators to enjoy the atmosphere. Perfect for building team camaraderie and enjoying a special day out on the water, it allows us to be at the heart of the action, all while supporting the Sydney Cove Rotary Club and their vital charitable programs.

A Tradition of Sailing and Giving Back
Established over 30 years ago, the Rotary Solas Charity Regatta has become a hallmark event for the Sydney Cove Rotary Club, combining the thrill of yacht racing with the power of giving back. Hosted in partnership with the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), Sydney’s premier yacht racing venue and home to the iconic Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, this regatta has drawn sailors and supporters from all over Australia.
The day offers something for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned sailor ready to race or a first-time spectator eager to learn the ropes.
The real heart of the regatta lies in its mission. Funds raised through participation and sponsorship benefit the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF), a charity dedicated to providing hope and health for sick children, as well as the Safety of Lives at Sea Trust (SOLAS), which supports families of those lost at sea and improves maritime safety initiatives. A portion of the proceeds also strengthens Rotary’s own community-driven initiatives, including the Early Bird Café, which addresses urban homelessness by serving daily breakfasts to those in need.
Witness the Regatta with Purpose
While the yachts take center stage on the water, the boat we will have for the day ensures that spectators have an opportunity to experience the magic of the event. The well appointed vessel, provided in support of this charitable cause, offers access to the racecourse and all the exciting action unfolding across the harbour.
While the regatta brings excitement and enjoyment, its most significant impact comes from the funds raised for its charitable ventures. Over the years, the event has contributed millions of dollars to important causes, including respiratory health projects through SCHF and maritime safety research through SOLAS. These contributions have changed countless lives, from children receiving life-saving care to supporting families in times of unimaginable loss.
This legacy of giving makes every aspect of the regatta meaningful. Your participation as a spectator, whether cheering from the sidelines or a boat, is part of a tradition of making a difference, one wave at a time.
What Happens After the Race?
The excitement doesn’t stop when the yachts cross the finish line. Post-race celebrations are held at CYCA, where participants, sponsors, and guests gather for drinks, a barbecue sausage sizzle, and a lively prize-giving ceremony. It’s a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly wraps up an incredible day.
Whether your team wins or simply enjoys the race, you’ll leave the regatta with a sense of fulfillment and connection to a larger purpose. The memories made at this event go beyond the race; they’re part of a shared commitment to giving back.
